Here's your chance to ride a trail designed by mountain bikers for mountain bikers. As soon as your ride begins, you'll notice the thought that went into these trails. Curves and twists in the landscape will require your total concentration. Thanks to the efforts of the local mountain bike advocacy group MORE, riders in the Washington area can enjoy this great network of singletrack trails along the Occoquan Reservoir in southern Fairfax County. Trail Surface: Technical singletrack and doubletrack.

Excellent trail! Definitely, an expert to intermediate type of trail.

Defenitely an intermediate/expert trail. 4-5 climbs that are aerobically taxing (the first is nick-named "the lung buster" or something close to that). There are roots everywhere which keep you from being able to pick up much speed. Not too many technical turns but plenty of other obstacles to always keep you on your toes. There are basically 4 loops and you can take a bypass after each one to return to the parking lot. Overall takes 1.5-2 hrs if you do the whole thing.

This is an excellent trail with great aerobic difficulty. If you have to travel to fountianhead, call ahead and make sure the trail is not closed due to inclement weather.
