The Sweet Air area of Gunpowder Falls State Park offers perfect intermediate trails. Located in northern Baltimore County, Sweet Air has 1,250 acres of trails. The variety of trails, from steep rocky climbs and descents to fields and flat twisty riverside trails, gives the intermediate rider the perfect stage to hone her or his skills. Although not readily apparent when you start your ride, the Gunpowder Falls State Park area is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and its delicate ecosystem. The watershed covers 64,000 square miles and spans sections of several states, including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York. About 20,000 years ago, the sea level was more than 300 feet below what it is today.

Not the most technically challenging, but definitely a beautiful hike. Most of the trail follows the Gunpowder River. I hiked @ 06:30 and had the trails to myself save one lone trail runner. Saw 3 deer drinking at the river, a fox trotting along the trail, a rabbit and numerous trout in the river. Being so close to Baltimore, you definitely will not have the same experience at 14:00 on a sunny day!
