This 41-mile cruise will bring you close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, past stables and foxhunting country, steeplechase tracks, and gorgeous stone homes. The terrain is certainly rolling and hilly, but on a sunny day with a gentle breeze this ride can be as much of a pleasure cruise as a workout. The Blue Ridge Mountains lie to the west, creating a challenge for cyclists wishing to ride to the Shenandoah Valley. This ride takes us westward far enough to enjoy the mountains’ spectacular beauty without tackling their inclines. This ride is particularly colorful in fall, but I enjoy riding it any time of the year. In fact, it’s my favorite ride in the Virginia Hunt Country.

It was a glorious day, so very easy to enjoy the long stretches of country roads through horses and cows and in one case, alpacas. I even saw a bald eagle circling lazily. The change in direction around frogtown road is not as it is in the directions, so we took a small detour through marshall va. luckily, a local was able to get us back on track and into middleburg as scheduled and on time.

The name of Route 702 has been changed to Frogtown Road, instead of Rock Hill Mill Road, if you are to follow the route as indicated on the map. The Frogtown Road becomes Rock Hill Mill Road at a midway.
