Here’s one of the sweetest rides in Montgomery Country — a little corner of road-cycling heaven within forty-five minutes of downtown Washington. The Sugarland Loop lies in the county’s northwest corner, long a favorite destination for area cyclists. You’ll be likely to run into group rides organized by the Potomac Pedalers Club or training rides organized by any of the several local racing clubs. Things to see: Old C & O Canal aqueduct, one-room schoolhouse, Homestead Farm (for pick-your-own fruit in season).

The White Ferry spurt was a little sketchy...thankfully it wasn't rush hour, and the cars are good about bikers on the side of the road. Otherwise, a nice ride--DON'T reverse it...the hill...er...mountain...that I went down on Montevideo Road would have been KILLER going up. I am currently a beginner and this was a relatively difficult ride--the hills weren't un-bikable but were definitely a challenge. Enjoy! It's a beautiful ride in the country! Another thing I suggest is going down to the end of Riley's Lock---beautiful views are you right along the C&O and Potomac River. It was a nice end to the ride.
