This loop explores the Potomac’s scenic bottomlands, where a slower, straighter part of the river above Great Falls glides by cornfields, swamps, sod farms, oak forest, and ruins. It’s a good ride to append to "Sugarland Loop Ramble" or "Escape to the Maryland Countryside Challenge," but it also stands well on its own. Things to see: Ruins at Edwards Ferry, farm country, wildlife area, swamp, C & O Canal, one-room schoolhouse.

The C and O canal is such a nice ride. This section in particular is singletrack and wooded.
