This is a very arduous ride going from 2600 ft. to 4100 ft. That’s the first 13 miles. Hang on, you’ll drop from Sassafras Gap to Big Creek in no time, losing that same 1500 ft. in just over a mile! The views are great and the creek is beautiful and cool—and wet. Ride surface is 15.1 miles of single track and 3.7 miles of forest road. The highlights include big and numerous stream crossings, long steady climb on road and trail, several steep uphills, very, very steep downhill, and views.
