Both routes begin at the stoplight in the town of Floyd, within hollerin' distance of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and have their midway point at Chateau Morrisette Winery. The routes diverge on the back stretch. Mountain bikers can kick up the dust on the winding, gravel back roads, while those choosing touring bikes will enjoy a downhill run on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The first 13 miles feature an uphill climb to the crest of the Blue Ridge and Chateau Morrisette Winery. This tour gets the climbs over with in the first half of the ride, and touring bikes are recommended due to a 2-mile gravel stretch. Terrain: rolling to mountainous; one extended climb to Chateau Morrisette Winery.
