Black Mountain Bald is the eastern summit of Black Mountain. The summit is a large granite dome that offers fine views of the surrounding mountains and coast. The hike climbs the mountain from the south, up a rocky ridge through spruce forest and across granite bedrock. The open areas abound in blueberries. The trail descends a steep-sided notch, passing Wizard Pond, before the final climb to the summit.
