Mount Toll is best known from its attention-grabbing appearance above Blue Lake. However, the easiest route is to first climb Pawnee Peak (see hikes 11 and 12) and continue down the north slope of Pawnee into the broad saddle between Pawnee and Toll. Much of the route-finding up the trackless south slope of Toll is a slog through loose rock (talus). The top is near where the rock eventually gets firm.
