The northern section of the Spring to Spring Trail network is hidden along Grand Avenue in the town of De Leon Springs. The pathway begins as a sidewalk-like surface on the right side of the road (heading south); however, when it switches to the other side of the road at Katrina Street, you’ll start to get the sense that you’re on a trail.
Not long after the switch, you’ll come to Mud Lake Road; if you turn right here, you’ll head toward the entrance to a 2,300-acre wildlife refuge at Lake Woodruff. The refuge is home to a variety of land and water fauna, including seven endangered species and more than 230 species of birds.
