Swimming With the Dolphins in Hawaii

Swimming With the Dolphins in Hawaii
If you've dreamed of swimming with dolphins, a trip to Hawaii will give you this chance. If you happen to be visiting the islands of Oahu or Hawaii, you can participate in one of the dolphin interaction programs run by Sea Life Park Hawaii or by Dolphin Quest. In these interactions, you'll be able to get close to dolphins and have an unforgettable experience.

Sea Life Park Hawaii

Sea Life Park Hawaii is one of two companies on the island of Oahu that has a dolphin swim program. Sea Life Park is Oahu's only marine wildlife park. In addition to dolphins, the park features interactions with sea lions and Hawaiian rays. The program has three levels. The Dolphin Encounter is the most basic and consists of touching, kissing and "dancing" with a bottle-nosed dolphin. The Dolphin Swim Adventure includes the previous adventure's activities and also allows guests to take a belly ride on a dolphin. The Dolphin Royal Swim is similar to the previous two encounters, but guests also take a dorsal fin ride with the dolphins and have their feet pushed through the water by dolphins. While visiting the park, keep an eye out for the resident walphin, a cross between a dolphin and a killer whale.

Dolphin Quest Oahu

Dolphin Quest Oahu is one of two Dolphin Quests in Hawaii that has a dolphin swim program. The one on Oahu is located inside the Kahala Hotel and Resort. Like Sea Life Park, it has several programs. The Wee Family Fins and Fun program is aimed at families with children younger than 4. It's a 15-minute program that allows toddlers and parents to touch the dolphins. Children ages 5 to 10 can participate in the Kids' Aquatic Adventure, which includes touching the dolphins and viewing the reef fish. The park also offers the Dolphin Encounter, the Dolphin Adventure and the Dolphin Duo. In the Dolphin Encounter, guests view the dolphins underwater with a mask. The adventure allows guests to also assist with training the dolphins. The Dolphin Duo is similar but is designed for two people and can include kayaking with the dolphins. There is also the Dolphin Family Swim program, which is designed for groups of up to five people and is similar to the Dolphin Encounter. Finally, there is the Trainer for a Week program, which allows guests to spend five days shadowing a Dolphin Quest trainer while taking care of, training and observing the animals.
