What are Some Fun Things to Do in Ohio?
Ohio may not immediately come to mind as one of the top getaway places, but it does offer many options for the outdoor enthusiast. The Buckeye State is loaded with woods, wildlife and swamps---not to mention an impressive trail that loops around the state. Camping, hiking, bicycling, bird watching and more are just some activities Ohio offers.

Morgan Swamp Preserve

Morgan Swamp Preserve spans nearly 1,300 acres and is home to a slew of common and rare species. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the 100-plus bird species along with dozens of fish, mammals and reptiles. Hikers and backpackers will have a literal field day exploring the swamp area and its nearby Grand River.

The Buckeye Trail

The noted Buckeye Trail snakes for more than 1,400 miles in a large circle around the state. You can pick up the trail in a number of locations and opt for a shorter day hike or backpack along the route for several days. Because of its incredible length, the trail offers an array of Ohio landscapes and gems, ranging from the shores of Lake Erie to a vista point above the Ohio River. Pick up the trail by looking for "blue blazes," or small markers on trees or poles that designate part of the trail. (See Resources).
