Vacations for kids can vary from walking and hiking tours to water sports and other activities. While there are a number of good vacation ideas for kids, the best will offer amenities and programs that cater to kids and offer parents a way to join their kids in outdoor activities and sports.

San Diego Zoo

Family-Friendly Beaches

Pack your sunscreen and head to a family-friendly beach like Virginia Beach. With sand that is smooth to the touch and sunshine that is both warm and pleasant, according to, kids can enjoy the many musical sounds heard on the beach. Appalachian Mountains

Head to the Appalachian Mountains for a family walking and hiking tour of the 2,174-mile Appalachian Trail. Great for adults and kids, the trail is safe kids and offers a number of rivers, lakes, peaks and valleys and state parks for outdoor activities. Cabins and other accommodation are also available. The trail is free to walk or hike and families are encouraged to explore the trial together.
