The Bird Kingdom features a daily bird show, a hands-on reptile zone and a free-flight aviary where kids can see songbirds, finches and other small birds up close. The attraction is open year-round, and strollers are permitted throughout the aviary. As of 2009, ticket prices for the Bird Kingdom were $16.95 per adult and $11.95 for children, plus tax.

Take the Whirlpool Jetboat Tour

Kids who are eager to enjoy a thrill ride across the Devil's Hole Rapids in the Niagara Gorge can hop aboard one of the Whirlpool Jet boats with parents and explore the waters around Niagara Falls from a fresh perspective. Children need to be at least 44 inches tall and at least 6 years of age to ride the Wet Jet boat, or at least 40 inches tall and 4 years of age to ride the Jet Dome, a covered version of the Wet Jet boat.

Children who enjoy learning about nature and exploring the wilderness can enjoy a self-guided walking tour with the family to the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory. The conservatory is home to more than 2,000 tropical butterflies and is designed like a tropical rain forest with a waterfall and pond. The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is open year-round and is busiest during the summer months.
As of 2009, the price of admission was $11.50 (CAD) for those 13 years or older and $6.80 (CAD) for children from 6 to 12 years of age. Children under 5 years of age were admitted free.

Take the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour

Kids can see the Niagara Falls up close with the Maid of the Mist Tour, a family-friendly attraction that takes visitors right up to the falls for a fun boat adventure where everyone gets soaked from the water. The Maid of the Mist tours depart from both U.S. and Canadian docks every 30 minutes and travel to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls for a scenic ride.

As of 2009, the adult rate was $13.50 or $14.50 (CAD), and children between the ages of 6 and 12 paid $7.85 or $8.90 (CAD). Children under 5 years of age with a parent are admitted free of charge.

Hiking in Whirlpool State Park reports that Whirlpool State Park is close to some of the most extreme rapids in the world and there are several beginner to intermediate hiking trails to choose from around the park. Young outdoor enthusiasts can join their family for a group hike up to the whirlpool and enjoy scenic views of the forest and river. Whirlpool State Park also is home to several picnic areas and restrooms are available.
