Many people associate Glenwood Springs, Colorado, with being a bedroom community of Aspen. Although the town is indeed the place that many Aspen resort employees call home, it also boasts an all-seasons variety of attractions for outdoor enthusiasts.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park gives you the opportunity to help your kids break their Disney habit. Take them on a variety of caving tours, which range from easy to adventurous. Or ride the Canyon Flyer, a traditional roller coaster whose tracks are actually on the mountain and through the trees. Special mechanisms allow you to control your speed. The park also has educational activities such as Discovery Rock, where you can learn about local geology.

Glenwood Canyon

More than 3 million years ago, the forceful Colorado River and snow melt from the Continental Divide carved out Glenwood Canyon. Today, the 16-mile canyon is a popular biking, hiking and river rafting trail.

Jeanne Golay Trail

The Jeanne Golay Trail is named after the Olympic cyclist who lives in Glenwood Springs. Catch her training on this challenging trail that travels up Red Mountain to the summit. The mountaintop offers views of Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers and Mt. Sopris. As the trail elevation increases, you might see fox, deer and various bird species.

Hanging Lake Waterfalls

Waterfalls descend into a trout-filled lake at the trail head of the Canyon Lakes Trail. It takes about 90 minutes to get to the top of this trail.

Glenwood Hot Springs Pool

Who needs a Jacuzzi when the world's largest hot springs are located in Glenwood Springs. The springs were established in 1888 and were once frequented by such figures as Al Capone, Titanic survivor Molly Brown and President Theodore Roosevelt. Admission is complimentary if staying at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge.
