The Best Mexican Vacations for Kids

The Best Mexican Vacations for Kids
Since tourism accounts for a major percentage of the economy in Mexico, resorts and hotels there are trying to become more family friendly. You can find many all-inclusive resorts with plenty of activities for the kids, all at better rates. Many of these resorts even let kids under 12 stay free, which is a good deal since these types of all-inclusive deals usually charge per person. Here are some of the best values for Mexican vacations, and some of the hotels with the most interesting amenities for the whole family.

Melia Cabo Real

At the Melia Cabo Real, near the Sea of Cortez, kids up to age 12 stay for free. Like any resort, there are plenty of activities, and sprawling swimming pools. The Melia Cabo Real also has kids' clubs for toddlers to 4-year-olds, and a mini club playground for kids up to 12 years old. You can also rent equipment like wave runners or take snorkeling trips through the resort itself.

Club Med Cancun

Club Med is leading the pack with remodels and new packages specifically designed for family travel instead of couples travel. They have the Mini Club Med for kids 4 and up, and Club Med Passworlds for kids 12 and up with activities to keep your kids busy. There is also a Baby Club Med for 4- to 23-month-old care. These clubs come at no additional cost, and are activity-focused, so your kids aren't just sitting around on vacation. They can do everything from play Frisbee, take tennis lessons, to learn how to sail. It is probably one of the only resorts with a circus school for kids.

Hotel Riu Caribe

The Riu Caribe is one of those resorts that doesn't charge for kids under 12 to stay, saving a family of four half off the cost of their room. Besides amenities like kid's pool, playground, and activities nearby at archaeological ruins, the Riu Caribe has also designed its rooms with families in mind. The rooms are more like suites, with connected rooms that provide privacy, without having complete separation.

Mayan Palace Acapulco Resort

Waterslides. Lots of them. This resort, just 20 minutes outside of the city of Acapulco, the Mayan has fancy canals, lakes and pools that you can paddle boat through. This is nothing compared to the giant aqua park with slides, waterfalls, and a circular river for floating around. Or your kids can do crafts and activities while in the Chispas Kid's Club.

Azul Hotels by Karisma

The Azul line is the family version of the Karisma hotels. If you are ultra modern and chic, but have kids, then Azul is the resort for you. This particular Azul is a boutique resort near Cancun on the Mayan Riviera. They think of everything for kids, from the usual kids' activity programs, to complimentary baby monitors for your rooms. There is, of course, the typical assortment of Mexican resort activities: water skiing, snorkeling, paddle boating, amazing pools and restaurants.
