Fun Things for Kids to Do in Maui

Fun Things for Kids to Do in Maui
In Maui, parents and children can spend time outdoors from morning to night. Kids could stay occupied at the beach the whole time, between swimming, boogie boarding and digging in the sand. But the island also features many other adventures that will expand their horizons and engage the whole family.

Kayak Tours

Take your kids on a kayak trip with Kelii's Kayak Tours. Depending on your children's ages and attention span, you can select anything from a 2.5-hour trip in Makena Bay to a 4.5-hour tour of Maui's west shore. The company also offers packages that combine things such as paddling and hiking, or paddling and snorkeling. Kelii's doesn't have a single address; classes begin from different spots, so get directions when you reserve your trip.

Snorkeling and SASY

The Scuba Shack on Maui specializes in family fun. Along with diving instruction for beginners and trips for experienced divers, the company offers SASY for kids (Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth). This simple technique allows children to "scuba dive" along the surface of the water. Starting at age 10, children can also take lessons and earn a junior scuba certificate.

Board Sports

At Maui WaveRiders, parents and kids can take surfing and SUP lessons (stand-up paddling). Don't be nervous if you've never done these sports before---the company bills itself as "Specializing in Beginners and Cowards." Its lessons begin with a short session on land that emphasizes technique and safety, and then you hit the waves with an instructor.
