The Best Winter Vacations in Europe

The Best Winter Vacations in Europe
When people become winter sports enthusiasts, they often realize that all of their vacation money goes to skiing and snowboarding holidays. Those who once enjoyed exploring Europe's cultural attractions may bemoan the fact that this is no longer an option. However, this is not exactly true. A European winter ski vacation gives you the opportunity to have the best of both worlds, and offers an acceptable compromise if you travel with non-skiing friends, family and significant others.

International Winter Festival Sarajevo

If skiing in Sarajevo sounds like an absurd idea, consider this. In 1984, the city hosted the Winter Olympics, with its high speed downhill races and steep ski jumps. Mount Jahorina is Sarajevo's major ski resort. During the Bosian War, Serb leader Radovan Karadzic held camp on these mountains. The area is slowly returning to its former glory as a ski area. Skiing in Sarajevo gives you the opportunity to attend the annual Sarajevo Winter Festival. The two-month event features artists and performers from all parts of the globe.
