Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise

Climb aboard a recreated pirate ship and set sail for some old-fashioned fun. Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise offers light refreshments, interactive entertainment with a pirate theme, music, water gun activities, face painting and pirate storytelling. The cruise operates daily at 10:00 am and 2 pm. There is also a champagne cruise for adults that departs at 4:30, 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 pm seasonally. Prices (2009) range from $10.00 for little pirates to $38.00 for adult pirates.

Glen Oaks Golf Course

For those wishing to play golf or simply practice their swing, the Glen Oaks course is a great choice. Set in the middle of Clearwater, the par 3 course is a tight fit but offers challenging, narrow fairways and compact greens. Stevenson Creek runs though the course, offering a diverse sense of play and a bit of challenge for all golfers. This course is also home to the Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation for kids.

Beaches

Clearwater Beach is open year round unless otherwise noted. The beach offers plenty of white sand for sunning and walking and gentle surf for swimming. There are cabanas and lounge chair rentals for those who wish to get a break from the sun. For those who want more action, there are areas for beach volleyball and a playground area for the younger set. A food kiosk is nearby.

Clearwater Beach has what many hungry visitors are looking for that is just a stroll from the beach. One of the most famous is Frenchy's Rockaway Grill on Clearwater Beach. Guests can sit in an interior dining area or outdoors on the front patio with seaside views of Clearwater Beach. The spotlight menu items are their famous Grouper Sandwich that is a deep fried grouper fillet, with lettuce, mayo and tomato on a bun.

Crabby Bills is across the street from Frenchy's and offers guests choices of fresh seafood and other dishes. The restaurant is well known for its crab dishes. Come early because this restaurant can quickly fill up to capacity for lunch and dinner. Despite its motto "Don't worry be crabby" the staff and crew at Crabby Bills treats customers with southern friendliness and hospitality.

Fishing

Fishing is popular at the fishing pier just off of the beach in Clearwater and also at Pier 60. Visitors are able to fish right from the dock at both locations. Charter fishing, deep sea fishing and coastal fishing are common things to do near Clearwater Beach. Hourly, daily and weekly rentals are available. There are several types of fish that are prominent to the area such as amberjack grouper, kingfish, snapper and tarpon. Deep sea fishing is popular as well as coastal fishing.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a destination for those who are interested in aquatic life. The aquarium offers a Sea Life Safari Cruise which allows guests to see sharks and dolphins in the nearby Gulf of Mexico waters; dolphin shows; and scuba presentations. Guests can also visit the many exhibits that include turtles, fish, stingrays, otters and manatees.
