RV Campgrounds Near Sonora, TX

RV Campgrounds Near Sonora, TX
Sonora is a small town in southwest Texas on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The Caverns of Sonora are the biggest tourist draw, even though the caves were not developed as a tourist site until the 1960s. Hunting is the other popular activity in the area. Campgrounds are at the caves, in town and in the general area for RV and tent camping.

Caverns of Sonora

The operators of the Caverns of Sonora--six miles south of town--also operate a small RV park to accommodate visitors to the cave.

The campground is just outside the cavern entrance. It has 48 sites with electricity and water hookups. There are no sewer hookups or other services, but there is a dump station.

Several types of tours are offered in addition to the one- or two-hour basic tours of the caves. Seminars on caving, as well as caving exploration are taught, and photography events are held in the caves.
