Haughton, Louisiana is a small town near Shreveport surrounded by recreational opportunities. To the east and west are military installations, but within 20 miles is Lake Bistineau and Cross Lake. Also in the general area is Cypress Bayou Reservoir. This part of Louisiana is called a "sportsman's paradise," in part at least for the lakes and all the fishing and boating opportunities. Pine forests dominate the dry land, making it ideal for exploring trails and hunting.

Cypress Black Bayou Campground

The Cypress Black Bayou Park is on a peninsula of the reservoir, less than a mile from the Cypress Black Bayou Park and Recreation Area. The small roads around the lake provide trails for hiking or biking, and there are more trails in the vicinity. The campground has 73 RV sites with water and electricity. There is no sewer, but there is a dump station. The campsites are nestled among trees so there is a sense of privacy and space between neighbors. The facility has two bathhouses, showers and restrooms. Cypress Black Bayou has 15 tent campsites with water and electricity. There is also a primitive camping area with a restroom and water spigot. The facility also has three rustic cabins and three cottages that are a bit larger. Cypress Bayou has a nature center, a small zoo, hiking trails, a beach and easy lake access with boat ramps and piers.

Tall Pines RV Park

Tall Pines RV Park is just off Interstate 20 in Shreveport, about 25 miles from Haughton. The park caters to the overnight RV camper. There are a few long term campers, but the park is designed with the short term camper in mind. The park, as the name implies, has tall pine trees that give some separation between campsites. The park has 93 sites with full hookups--water, sewer and electric--with 50-amp connections available. Your rental includes Cable TV and Wi-Fi at no extra cost. All sites are pull-through sites, and are large enough to handle sideouts and awnings. The campground has a small grocery store, restrooms, showers and a laundry. There is a recreation room, horseshoes and a fitness center. One thing unique about this park is a dog park, a fenced in area where you may let your dog run free. Tall Pines also has an RV technician on staff and RV parts for any repairs you might need. Tall Pines has a snack bar and you may have food delivered to your campsite.

Cinnamon RV Park

Cinnamon Creek RV Park is near Linden, and near the Caney Lakes, which are in the 600,000-acre Kisatchie National Forest. The national forest has trails as well as areas for hunting and fishing. The Cinnamon Creek Park has 85 full hookup sites. All of the sites are pull-through sites and all of them have 50-amp connections. Sites have picnic tables and grills. Tent camping is allowed. The campground has restrooms, showers and laundry service. There is also a wash and fold service available. Camping fee includes Cable TV and Wi-Fi. Pets are allowed, but you may not tie your pet outside or leave it unattended.
