Campgrounds Around Cushing, Minnesota
Cushing, Minnesota, is a small town in Morrison County that serves as a gateway to vacations and adventure in the lake country and northern part of the state. Cushing is in the middle of the state, with the Mississippi River running nearby; thousands of lakes begin just to the north. Around Cushing you'll find camping, hiking, canoeing, bird and animal watching, and fishing.

Fishtrap Camping & RV Resort

Fishtrap Lake is 10 miles north of Cushing, and the first of the many lakes north of town. The lake is about 1,100 acres with many small bays that create secluded areas. Fishing is popular here, as well as boating, canoeing and hiking.Three resorts are around the lake so it gets crowded in summer.



This privately run campground has 130 sites with full hookups; 50-amp connections and pull-through sites are available. You may rent a site daily or for the season. The camp has a lodge, hot showers and laundry. Pets are allowed. Facilites also include a playground, an outdoor pool, grocery store, dock and a hiking trail. Canoes, kayaks and fishing boats are available for rent.

Charles A. Lindbergh State Park

The Charles A. Lindbergh State Park includes the home of Charles Lindbergh Sr., father of Charles Lindbergh Jr. the famous aviator. You may tour the home and the museum operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. This park also offers hiking trails, picnic areas, a historic stone water tower, trails for skiing. The Mississippi River and Pike Creek run through the park. You may see bald eagles here. The campground provides canoe rentals, a convenience store



This campground has 38 sites that are wooded and private. The sites are open in winter but you have to ski to them. Fifteen of the sites have electricity. There are two cart-in sites along the creek bank a quarter mile from the parking lot. A group campsite is also available that will hold 30 people. Showers and a bathroom is available. This state park also manages the Birch Lake State Forest, which has 24 drive-in sites and five walk-in sites but no services and no reservations.

Auger's Pine View Resort

Auger's Pine View Resort is 20 miles north and in a forested area on Lake Shamineau. The Paul Bunyan Trail is nearby, which is the longest trail in the state, and it connects to other trails making a 110-mile paved bike trail.



This campground has cabins, and a 14-foot fishing boat comes with each cabin. While cabins are the main emphasis, the campground has RV sites with full hookups and tent camping with electricity. Auger's rents canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, pontoon boats or motor boats. Activities include water basketball, water volleyball, a water slide and other water games.
