Lake Wales, Florida, is a mid-size community located in the central portion of the Sunshine State. The region is west of Lake Kissimmee and east of Tampa Bay. Lake Kissimmee has ample chances for fishing, wildlife observation, birding and boating. The Grassy Lake Reserve is near the Lake Wales Ridge and is prime for birding and trying to spot alligators and other wildlife. RV and tent campers have options for parks and campgrounds in the surrounding region of Lake Wales.

With a catch-and-release fishing pond, sports courts, guest room, free coffee in the morning, laundry facilities and a fitness room, camping at the Lake Wales RV and Campground seems like a deluxe affair.



Tent campers and RV drivers are welcome with sites including picnic tables and fire rings. Showers and toilets are available. Pets are allowed but should be leashed when in the campground. Explore Lake Wales, a 15-minute drive from the campground, or head to Lake Kissimmee for boating, fishing, swimming and birding.

Lake Kissimmee State Park

The Lake Kissimmee State Park offers campsites designed for tenters or sites for RV campers. Tent sites have fire rings and grills, picnic tables, shade trees and access to water taps. RV campers have water and sewer connections. Your pets are welcome but should be leashed in the park.



WIthin the park are 13 miles of hiking trails where you may catch glimpses of deer, alligators, fox and coyotes or even a rare black bear. Canoeing and kayaking, fishing and swimming are allowed at the lake.

Camp Mack's River Resort

Choose your style of camping at Camp Mack's. Options are available for RV campers, tenters or those seeking cabin camping. Cabin rentals are available, and tent sites have fire rings and grills, picnic tables and use of freshwater taps.



RV campers have sites with 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections. Boat rentals for use on Lake Kissimmee are available. Pets are allowed. Nature tours are available through the office, and fishermen fish the lake for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and shellcrackers.
