Blanchard River Greenway Bike Trail

The Blanchard River Greenway is made up of several parks and sites throughout Findlay where you can follow a designated bike path along tree-lined trails that were once part of the Old Mill Stream Parkway. The Greenway is a multiple-use trail for not only bikers but also hikers and joggers, and includes several nature overlooks, picnic areas and places to relax and enjoy the scenery around the trail. The Greenway also provides a fitness cluster for aerobic training, a walkway that follows the river, as well as a boat launch and fishing areas off the greenway. The Blanchard River Greenway Bike Trail includes a visitors' center that explains the history of the trail and the Old Mill Stream that was there earlier.

Indian Trails Caverns

Just a few minutes east of Findlay is the site of the Indian Trails Caverns, with many exciting Indian markings and artifacts in the caves that have become a very important discovery in the research of early Native Americans. The caverns also include the remains of many animals that lived in the caves, from bats and weasels to amphibians and reptiles. The Indian Trails Caverns are also the location for the most recent sighting of a giant beaver that was over six feet long and weighed as much as 250 lbs. The site is a great location for archaeological and geological studies. Tours are given through the caverns on weekends from Memorial to Labor Day, and take about an hour to complete.

Riverbend Recreation Area

Covering an area of 129 acres of forest as well as over 100 acres of conservation area, the Riverbend Recreation Area is a great place for families and individuals to explore the outdoors. With activities like fishing, hiking, biking or just sightseeing, you will find much to see and do here. The Recreation area includes picnic areas, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, restrooms and outdoor shelters, as well as a wetlands area, a rural campground and much more. The wetlands area has been reserved as a habitat for native birds and other wildlife, and is a great place for birdwatchers.
