Enjoy the Recreational Activities
Most campgrounds offer different types of recreational activities for people of all skill and age levels. Hiking is not only fun, but its also educational. You will get to explore the different ecosystems and wildlife in the area. You'll also be getting some exercise at the same time. Many parks offer canoe or kayak rentals that even the most novice paddlers can enjoy. Some parks offer fun activities, such as horseback riding, swimming, playgrounds, picnic areas and guided tours.
Museums and Historical Exhibits
Many parks have historical exhibits and museums. These are often free for campers to enjoy. Many of these will even have hands-on exhibits for the children to explore. These are great places to not only have fun, but also learn something about the area where you are camping. Some parks even offer re-enactments of battles or historical events that took place in the area.
Explore the Local Area
It's fun to get in the car and take a drive to explore the surrounding area. You'll be getting the chance to see where and how the locals live. Many areas will have spots where the locals go to enjoy their time off. These can be beaches, waterfront areas, local recreational sites, fishing spots and dining establishments. Stop at a store and ask someone about exciting spots worth seeing in the area. The personnel at your local campground should also be able to tell you of fun things to do in the vicinity.
Fun and Games at Camp
Bring some activities for everyone to participate in while at the campsite. These can be anything from games like cards, Trivial Pursuit, darts or any other game you and your group will find entertaining. Here's where you can use your imagination. Most campsites will have enough room where you can even play games like horseshoes.
Have a themed dinner night where everyone at camp can participate in cooking or creating one dish. For example, you could have a Mexican night where all the food is centered on that theme. Everyone in the group could prepare something with a Mexican flair to it. You could even dress up in a themed costume.
