Cabins Near Glacier National Park
Established in 1911, Glacier National Park's spectacular mountain scenery has been attracting visitors for decades. To fully appreciate the mountain surrounds in the park (also known as Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park), some visitors choose to stay in cabins with private decks. Choices range from back-country cabins in the park operated by the National Park Service to luxurious cabins with modern amenities located in the area surrounding the park.

St. Mary Lodge and Resort

Situated at Glacier National Park's east entrance on the famed Going-to-the-Sun Road, St. Mary Lodge and Resort combines the natural surrounds with modern amenities. St. Mary's offers seven different facilities including historic cabins and teepees. Built in 1937, the renovated cabins sleep four and have kitchenettes and private decks offering views of the mountains. The fully furnished teepees sleep six and have a private bathhouse with hot tub. St. Mary's is on the inter-park transportation route and is one of the closest accommodations to Glacier National Park. Nearby activities include skiing, fishing, hiking and rafting.

Historic Tamarack Lodge and Cabins

Located in Bad Rock Canyon, just miles from Glacier National Park, Historic Tamarack Lodge has 17 cabins--eight family cabins that sleep six people and nine attached cabins in four-plex buildings. The family cabins offer fully equipped kitchens, wireless Internet access and satellite television as well as private porches overlooking the mountain scenery. The smaller unit cabins have refrigerators and microwaves, satellite television and sitting areas. Winter activities around the lodge include downhill and cross-country skiing, ice fishing and dog-sledding. During summer guests, can enjoy fishing, hiking and golfing and in winter skiing and ice fishing.

Glacier Outdoor Center

Located just a half mile from the west entrance of Glacier National Park, Glacier Outdoor Center offers modern accommodation in one-, two- and three-bedroom cabins. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and all bed and bath linens. The Glacier Outdoor Center has activities on the premises, such as trout fishing at the center's pond, volleyball and horseshoes. Nearby activities including horseback riding, fishing, hiking and rafting with its parent company, Glacier Raft Co.

Glacier Mountain Resort

Just five minutes from the west entrance of Glacier National Park, Glacier Mountain Resort offers five one-bedroom cabins that sleep four. The cabins are furnished with authentic log furniture, have fully equipped kitchens and private decks. Nearby, guests can enjoy rafting, horseback riding, biking, hunting and fishing in the warmer months and cross-country and downhill skiing, snow-shoeing and ice-fishing in the colder months.

Granite Park Chalet

Built in 1914, Granite Park Chalet is one of only two back-country chalets maintained in Glacier National Park. The chalet--accessible only by hiking trail--offers rustic accommodations in 12 rooms sleeping two to six in bunk beds. Guests can order food packets and linens to be delivered to the chalet upon arrival. The chalet has a 12-burner stove and double oven and a limited selection of pots, pans and cooking utensils. Guests must bring their own serving and dining utensils and water.
