Pioneer Courthouse Square

Known as "Portland's Living Room", Pioneer Courthouse Square offers hundreds of free events every year, including cultural fairs, dances, musical concerts and Wii on the Mall. Located between Broadway and Sixth and between Morrison and Yamhill, the Pioneer Courthouse Square never closes.

International Rose Test Garden

Located at 400 SW Kingston Ave., inside Washington Park, over 6,800 rose plants are on display from all over the world. The garden is open daily, starting in early May; free tours, led by trained volunteers, run from June through September. Drink in the fragrant beauty while you enjoy a picnic lunch---and remember to bring your camera.

Powell's City of Books

Even if you are not an avid reader, you need to visit Powell's City of Books. Taking an entire city block, Powell's not only holds over 1 million books, but includes a coffee shop and art gallery. Located on the corner of West Burnside and 10th Avenue, Powell's is open daily.

Hoyt Arboretum

Enjoy over 21 miles of trails as they wind through more than 1,100 species of trees and plants. Stop by the visitor's center for maps, trail guides and detailed plant information. The arboretum, open daily, is located 2 miles west of downtown Portland, near the zoo. Admission is free.
