At the marina there are jet skis, canoes and boats for hire and a fully stocked store with general camping supplies, groceries and also fishing tackle and licenses. About 40 minutes drive from Cypress is Lake Conroe, a man-made body of water that stretches for 21 miles. A number of amenities and attractions make a trip to the lake a memorable event and it is worth considering staying overnight or for a few days at one of the many types of accommodation on offer. These include camping and RV sites and for those who prefer a little more comfort, there are a number of cabins and guest houses available to rent in the area as well. Amongst the activities available on the water are sailing, kayaking and bass fishing whilst for those who prefer dry land, there are several golf courses located around the lake offering well manicured greens and championship quality fairways. As well as the abundance of sports facilities there are numerous hiking and mountain trails amongst the trees of the Sam Houston National Forest which surrounds about a quarter of the lake.
