Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium, located in the Cannery Row area of Monterey, offers families a chance to explore the depths of the sea without leaving dry land. The aquarium features regular exhibits, as well as regularly scheduled activities. "The Secret Lives of Seahorses" exhibit offers four galleries, examining the lives of seahorses, with a focus on the reproductive process. The Monterey Bay Habitats exhibition features a 90-foot-long aquarium, displaying five distinct habitats of the Monterey Bay. The Out Bay exhibition can be viewed from three levels and features a 17-foot high window, revealing a live view of the sea life in the Monterey Bay. The aquarium also offers daily activities such as sea otter, penguin and outer bay feedings.

San Diego Zoo

Guests of the San Diego Zoo can enjoy live animal exhibits, representing species from around the world. Nine distinct animal zones in the zoo offer visitors an opportunity to view animals in environments similar to their natural habitats. The Polar Rim zone features polar bears and reindeer, while the African Rocks zone displays snow leopards, mountain lions, jaguars, leopards and lynx. The zoo also features exotic gardens spread out over 1,900 acres of land, representing the natural forest habitats of Africa, Asia and Australia. Regularly scheduled events and special programs at the San Diego Zoo offer educational and recreational opportunities for children and adults alike. Throughout the year, the zoo hosts programs such as wine-making dinners, art camps, orchid greenhouse tours and camps for children.
