With an abundance of freshwater and saltwater fishing opportunities, Florida is a popular destination for anglers. Florida's mild climate allows for tent, trailer and RV camping throughout the year. Fishing in Florida State Park offers a variety of species and camping accommodations for anglers at any level.

Myakka River State Park

Myakka River State Park is located approximately nine miles from Sarasota. It features one of Florida's largest natural areas with the state-designated Wild and Scenic Myakka River flowing through 58 square miles of pinelands, wetlands and prairies. The Park has two campgrounds with 76 tent, trailer and RV campsites and can accommodate RVs up to 34 feet. Each site is has water and 50-amp electricity hookups, a fire ring and picnic table. There are laundry facilities, restrooms with hot showers and a dump station. Visitors enjoy wildlife viewing from the boardwalk, hike and bike trails and boating or fishing along the Myakka River and the park's two lakes.

Hillsborough River State Park

Hillsborough River State Park is an approximately 10 minutes drive north of Tampa. Established in 1938, it is one of Florida's first state parks and has the scenic Hillsborough River flowing through it. The onsite campground offers 112 tent and RV sites with water, electric, a fire ring and picnic table. It features restrooms with showers, a swimming pool and a dump station. Popular activities include more than seven miles of hiking trails, two bicycling trails and wildlife viewing. Anglers can fish for bass, bream and catfish fishing along the Hillsborough River. Canoes and bike rental is also available.

Henderson Beach State Park

Henderson Beach State Park is located approximately five minutes drive east of Destin. The park boasts more than 6,000 feet of natural shoreline with white sand beaches and the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The on-site campground has 60 tent and RV sites capable of accommodating RVs up to 45 feet. Sites feature water, 50-amp electricity, grills and picnic tables. It features restrooms with showers, laundry facilities and allows pets. Visitors can enjoy beach-going, bicycling along the park's paved path, hiking on the nature trail, swimming and wildlife viewing. Destin is a popular fishing destination. Anglers can expect to catch species such as flounder, whiting, pompano, redfish, catfish and sometimes cobia.

Bahia Honda State Park

Located in the Florida Keys, Bahia Honda State Park is located approximately one hour's drive from Key West. Known for its pristine white sand beaches and snorkeling, there are three campgrounds in the including Buttonwood, Sandspur and Bayside. Buttonwood has 48 tent and RV sites featuring electricity, water, a picnic table and grill. All sites are gravel lined and oceanfront and the campground features restrooms with showers, a boat dock and dump station. Sandspur caters to tent camping with RVs over 14 feet are not permitted. Some sites have electricity and an oceanfront view. Baywood has eight sites with a grill and picnic table and vehicle restriction of 6 feet 8 inches. There is also a small restroom with electricity. Beach activities, boating, bicycling along the 3.5 mile paved trail, hiking, wildlife viewing, snorkeling and swimming are popular activities. The park boasts several areas for fishing depending on preferred species. Fishing off Old Bahia Honda Bridge anglers are likely to find snapper or grouper and fishing along the Atlantic side of the island in the shallow sand flats anglers may find bonefish, permit or barracuda.
