RV Campgrounds & Parks Near Perdido Beach, Florida

RV Campgrounds & Parks Near Perdido Beach, Florida
Perdido Key extends across the border of Alabama and Florida along the Gulf of Mexico. Here, coastal developments coexist with state and federal conservation efforts to protect these natural resources while making them available to Pensacola area residents and tourists. Perdido Key and neighboring Santa Rosa Island serve an additional practical role by reducing the effects of the hurricanes that routinely batter this section of Florida coastline. RVers will find comfortable accommodations with great locations to enjoy a beach holiday along these islands.

Big Lagoon State Park

The 1,515 mile kayaking adventure known as the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail begins at Big Lagoon State Park. This trail takes paddlers down Florida's Gulf Coast, through the Florida Keys, and back up Florida's Atlantic Coast to the end point of Ft. Clinch State Park. Big Lagoon State Park features hiking trails through the estuaries and coastal forests in addition to miles of Gulf beaches. The park campground offers electric and water hookup sites able to accommodate RVs up to 45 feet in length.

Gulf Islands National Seashore

The eastern end of Perdido Key and Fort Pickens at the western end of Santa Rosa Island are incorporated into Gulf Islands National Seashore. The eastern end of Perdido Key permits primitive camping but across the channel at Fort Pickens a developed campground can be found with electric and water hookups. Paddling, shore fishing, and swimming in either Pensacola Bay or the Gulf of Mexico can easily be enjoyed from this campground while hikers will find several trails to explore the ecosystems of the seashore. Historical passions may be sated by visiting the fort at the end of the island. Although reaching Fort Pickens from Perdido Key requires a transit through the city of Pensacola, this gives reason to make historical stops at Fort Barrancas and the National Naval Aviation Museum located on Pensacola Naval Air Station.

Playa Del Rio RV Park

Playa Del Rio RV Park offers visitors full hookup RV sites with wireless Internet less than a mile from where the Alabama-Florida state line cuts across Perdido Key. The sun and sand of the Gulf beaches are located across Perdido Key Drive from the park, but a marina gives boaters direct access to Old River on the north side of Perdido Key. Visitors looking to relax along quieter Gulf beaches will find Perdido Key State Park a mile east of Play Del Rio.
