Roberds Lake Resort & Campground

Roberds Lake Resort has cabins and an RV campground to offer travelers staying in Faribault. Sites are available with full or partial hookups, and seasonal sites come with a cable TV option. The resort has a sandy swimming beach, game room and outdoor games such as basketball and horseshoes. The Lodge prepares meals on site and sells necessities such as ice and firewood. Boaters will appreciate the many amenities provided for their convenience, from boat rentals to parking for boat trailers, docks and a boat launch. Nearby, the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail connects Sakatah Lake State Park and Faribault. The trail is paved, supplying opportunities to hike, bike, skate or ski for the length of its 39 miles.

Camp Faribo

Camp Faribo is made for family camping. The facility includes 71 campsites, all but a select few offering full hookups. A store sells snacks, groceries, RV supplies, propane and firewood. Campers have access to showers and restrooms, a laundry and a dump station. Swim in the heated pool or head into the recreation hall for dancing, dining, video and table games. The grounds offer outdoor games such as volleyball and bocce ball, and bike and kayak rentals are available. Visitors to the River Bend Nature Center--5 miles from the camp--can use a canoe-in campsite along the Straight River, experience the cross-country ski trails or miles of hiking paths and trails.

Rice Lake State Park

Rice Lake State Park, 24 miles south of Faribault, has a wide variety of campsites--from canoe and walk-in sites to 55-foot RV sites and group camps. Tent and RV campers have access to flush and vault toilets and showers, but the dump stations are found in the nearby town of Owatonna. The park grounds have hiking and cross-country skiing trails, and visitors are allowed to snowshoe anywhere except on groomed ski trails. Rice Lake is best suited for kayak and canoe use, and a launch area is provided.
