RV Parks near Talkeetna, AK
Talkeenta, Alaska, is a small town 14 miles off the Glen Parks Highway, two hours north of Anchorage and 3.5 hours south of the entrance to Denali National Park. Talkeetna is one of the main mountaineering hubs for the state, with most Denali climbs staged out of the village. Visitors to Talkeetna can fish for salmon in the Talkeetna River, hike around X, Y and Z lakes, and hire air charters for flights over the Alaska Range. There are several options for RV parks in the region around the town.

Talkeetna Camper Park

The Talkeenta Camper Park is close to the downtown core of the town and near the Talkeetna Airport. Visitors can watch the bushplanes take off and land, bringing with them climbers either beginning or ending their summit attempts at Denali, North America's tallest mountain. The RV park has sites for most RV sizes. Hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, and sewer. Pets are welcome. Food storage and preparation should be done according to posted rules because of frequent grizzly and black bear activity. Moose frequently wander through Talkeetna and the campground. Rafting, fishing, hiking, road and mountain biking and rock climbing opportunities can be found within minutes of the campground. The Talkeetna Ridge Trail is within a 20-minute drive of Jubilee Drive, on the Talkeetna Spur Road.

Montana Creek Campground

The Montana Creek Campground is located two miles from the Talkeetna Spur Road. The location is on Montana Creek, which has salmon, grayling and trout fishing. Hiking trails, mountain biking, and river rafting are all within the area. Class II to IV whitewater can be found at nearby Willow Creek. Byers Lake State Park is 45 miles north on the Glen Parks Highway. The RV campground has sites for RVs of most sizes and includes 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections. Pets are welcome. Bathrooms, showers and fire rings are on the premises. Food storage, fish cleaning and preparation should be done with care, as there is frequent grizzly and black bear activity in the area.

Talkeetna RV, LLC.

The Talkeetna RV, LLC, is a "dry" RV park and campground run by the city. There are no hookups. There are fire rings, grills, and picnic tables for guest use. Bathrooms are on the premises. Showers are available at the Roadhouse, a local restaurant and guest lodge, approximately five minutes from the campground. Pets are welcome. The location is convenient to the Talkeetna River, the town, and many hiking trails. Rafting, salmon fishing, birdwatching, and bicycling opportunities can be found from the campground. Air charters can be hired at the airport. Visitors can fly into the Ruth Glacier on Denali and ski, and take photographs.
