You don't have to leave your furry friends at home when you go out for a leisurely bike ride. There are a variety of pet carriers on the market today. Whether you have a small dog that can sit in a pet seat or a large dog that requires a tow behind pet trailer, your pet will enjoy the fresh air and spending time with you away from home.
Dog Bicycle Seats
A dog bicycle seat is attached to the rear or front of a bicycle in the same manner as a child seat. Snoozer offers a rear-facing pet seat called the Lookout. This seat is appropriate for small dogs up to 24 pounds. The carrier includes a mount that attaches to the bicycle underneath the seat and the rear axle of the bike to keep it securely in place. A harness is sewn into the bike seat so that you can strap your pet in and avoid any accidents resulting from an excited dog jumping out of the seat during your ride. The dog seat features a black faux fur interior for your dog's comfort and an attractive quilted exterior with a high-visibility reflective strip added for safety.
Bike Trailers for Dogs
The Track'r Bicycle Trailer is available in medium and large sizes to accommodate dogs up to 110 pounds. These trailers feature mesh screens along with a zippered vinyl top panel to provide protection from wind or bad weather. A removable, machine washable cushion is included with the trailer for your dog's comfort during bike rides. The trailers have two wheels and attach to the rear axle of your bike. A stroller kit is sold separately. It includes a small front wheel for the trailer and a handle so you can push your dog on walks when you don't want to ride. The Track'r Bicycle Trailer comes with a one-year warranty, and is available in your choice of blue or red.
Collapsible Dog Trailers
When space is an issue, having a bike trailer that can be folded flat easily and stored away is important. The Croozer trailers are similar to the Track'r Trailers except they have a 100-pound weight limit and quickly fold down to a 9.5-inch-high, 32-inch by 25.5-inch rectangle. This trailer attaches to the rear axle of your bike and includes a stroller wheel and handlebar attachment at no additional cost. The Croozer has smaller mesh side windows than the Track'r and a solid top panel, but the front of the carrier does feature a roll-up window. The Croozer trailer also has an integrated parking brake on the trailer for increased safety.
