Holly Beach, Louisiana, is in the far southwest corner of the state, near the Texas state line and on the Gulf of Mexico. Holly Beach has seen it's share of hard times from Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. It slowly has been rebuilding after the destruction from the storms. Bird-watchers can enjoy the area, trying to spot the many species of shore-birds, sea-fowl and migratory avians that frequent the area. Sea-kayakers can paddle along the beaches and coastline of the region, watching for wild dolphin. RV travelers to the region have options for RV parks in the neighboring communities of Holly Beach.

A+ Motel and RV Park is about a 20-minute drive to the north of the Holly Beach area. Anglers can enjoy fishing for bass, bluegill and crappie in the stocked fishing pond on the property. There are lakeside sites for RVs. Site hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. There is a dump station, bathrooms and showers for guest use. Pets are welcome but should be leashed. Alligators, herons and possum can be spotted in and around the campground. The Creole Nature Trail is within a 30-minute drive. Guests can hike the trail and learn about the ecosystem of the region at the trail.

Sweet Gum Community and RV Park caters to the long-term RV visitor, although it can accommodate transient RVers on a space-available basis. The park has many seasonal guests giving it a community feel. RV spaces have water, sewer, 30- or 50-amp electric connections and cable TV. There are bathrooms, showers and a coin-operated laundry room on the premises. Pets are allowed. Lake Charles is within an hour where visitors can fish, canoe, kayak and swim. The beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are within 30 minutes.

Texas Pelican RV Park

The Texas Pelican RV Park is approximately 20 miles from the Holly Beach area. RV sites have Wi-Fi, cable TV, 30- or 50-amp electric and water and sewer connections. Guests can get to Lake Charles or the beaches of the Gulf coast within 30 minutes in either direction, making it a convenient location to base camp. Guests can use the bathrooms, showers, laundry room, dump station and barbecue facilities. Pets are welcome. There is a pet-play and walk area where four-legged visitors can romp off-leash. Bird-watchers can enjoy their pastime at the campground, Lake Charles and the coast.
