Honor, Michigan Campgrounds
Honor is located on Michigan's northwest coast six miles from the Lake Michigan shoreline. Campers will find several campgrounds in the area that are close to the recreational possibilities offered by the lake, the Platte River and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Turtle Lake Campground

The 38-acre Turtle Lake Campground is located seven miles southeast of downtown Honor on Turtle Lake. It offers woodland and waterfront campsites that include partial hookups as well as some rustic sites. Sites include a picnic table and fire ring as well as access to a modern bath house with private showers. Recreational amenities include an arcade, playground and recreation room. The surrounding forest offers numerous hiking trails, and the quarter-mile shoreline includes a beach and fishing pier. Turtle Lake Campground also rents boats for anglers pursuing largemouth bass in the lake.

Sunny Woods Platte River Campground

Sunny Woods Campground is located three miles east of Honor on US-31. It offers 35 full-hookup sites that include a picnic table and fire ring. A modern bathhouse includes coin-operated private showers. Among other features are two playgrounds and an outdoor heated pool with sitting area. Sunny Woods also has a motel with six rooms as well as a convenience store on-site. The campground is located a short distance from the Platte River, which offers salmon and trout fishing.

Sleeping Bear Dunes Platte River Campground

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Platte River Campground is located eight miles northwest of downtown Honor--a quarter mile from Lake Michigan. It offers 179 private woodland sites that include a electric hookup, picnic table and fire ring along with central water spigots and dump station. A modern restroom building includes pay showers and dish washing stations. The campground is located on the Platte River where guests can canoe or fish for salmon and trout. Guests will also find a variety of hiking trails accessible from the camp including a trail that leads to a large beach on Lake Michigan. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a 45-mile long park that possesses several campgrounds like Platte River. The National Park Service indicates this campground is typically filled each night during the summer season.
