Dauphin Island Campgrounds

Dauphin Island Campgrounds
Dauphin Island, on the Gulf Shores of Alabama, is a three-mile-long barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf Shores area has gained a reputation as a prime region for bird-watching, but also offers the outdoor enthusiast opportunities to surf, scuba dive, snorkel, sea-kayak, and observe wildlife. Fortunate visitors may observe wild dolphins from the beaches. The area offers several options for campers on and around Dauphin Island.

Dauphin Island Park and Beach Campground

The Dauphin Island Park and Campground has sites for tent campers right on the white, sugar-sand beaches of Dauphin Island. Tent sites are primitive, but have picnic tables and fire rings for guest use. Fresh water spigots for drinking and cooking water, pit toilets and showers are available. The Audubon Bird Sanctuary is a few minutes from the campground. Bird watchers can spot the myriad species of native and migratory birds that frequent Dauphin Island. Pets are allowed at the campground but must be leashed, and check for updated rules on beach access for the four-legged visitors. Glass containers are not allowed on the beaches.
