Savannah, Tennessee, is a fairly small town on the Tennessee River. The town is surrounded by many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Nearby is Pickwick Landing State Park, which is on a huge lake. Also nearby is Shiloh National Park, site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. There are many wildlife areas, waterways and trails to enjoy and places to stay for campers

Green Acres is the place to be

Green Acres RV Park is a privately-owned campground on the south side of Savannah. The site has full hookups for RVs and pop-up campers. The campground has free Internet for campers, as well as a laundry facility and convenience store.
There is a small pond on the grounds for fishing. Rivers and parks are nearby, so there is plenty of opportunities to enjoy boating, hiking and other outdoor activities. There are a lot of golf courses in the area. There are three in Savannah. One of the highest rated in the area is the Shiloh Golf course in nearby Adamsville, 10 miles to the west. Another scenic course is the Pickwick Landing course inside the National Shiloh Battlefield Park.
Green Acres campground offers discounts for various camping clubs. It also has weekly, monthly and yearly rates available.

Pickwick Lake State Park

The Pickwick Lake State Park has a wide variety of types of camping available. The park is at the Pickwick Dam, which separates the Tennessee River from the lake.
There are 48 campsites with full hookups in a wooded area. There is a bathhouse and dump station in the middle of the campground. State parks do not take reservations, so the sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
On the lake side of the park there are 43 primitive camping sites, many of which are on the lake. There are also eight cabins as well as a hotel. Pickwick Landing is 12 miles south of Savannah. There is a 2.8 mile trail through the nearby woods to enjoy.
The park is the site of the first TVA works project completed during the Depression of the 1930s. Many of the current buildings were housing for workers during the construction of the dam. The area was also a riverboat stop during the 1840s.

Battlefield Campground, Shiloh

The Battlefield Campground is a small campground near the Shiloh National Military Park. It has RV hookups, pop-up sites as well as some tent camping. The site itself is not real impressive, but it is convenient to the Shiloh National Military Park.
The park is the site of one of the major battles of the Civil War. There are guided tours as well as trails in the area to explore.The site is also convenient to Pickwick Landing State Park, which is the major tourist attraction in the area. The Pickwick Dam is there, where the Tennessee River becomes Pickwick Lake. There is boating, fishing, hunting and hiking opportunities in this area. There are several state parks and other public areas for enjoying the outdoors. There is no camping inside the national military park. This campground adjoins the property and is as close as you can get for camping.
