Campgrounds Near Jordan, Minnesota
Jordan is a small town located in the heart of Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota. Superior National Forest includes hundreds of thousands of acres of fir, spruce and pine trees, plus almost half a million acres of surface water (including both cold and warm water streams). As such, Jordan is surrounded by pristine wilderness, ideal for fishing (especially for pike, walleye, and various form of bass and trout). Several campgrounds options exist within close proximity of Jordan.

Finland Campground and Day-Use Area

Finland State Forest, located just to the northeast of Jordan, boasts 311,970 acres of virgin woodlands, plus lakes and streams. Within the state forest there are several campgrounds, including the Finland Campground and Day-Use Area. Individual sites at the Finland Campground consist of the bare necessities--a cleared space, a picnic table and a fire ring. Vault toilets are maintained on the premises. The campground also maintains garbage cans. Drinking water is available on-site. A picnic shelter is also located on the grounds. The Finland Campground abuts the Baptism River, right at the confluence of that waterway's east and west branches, affording campers easy access to the river by boat or canoe. Though admission to the state forest is free (with no vehicle fee, either), use of the Finland Campground comes with a small fee and is first come, first serve.

Tettegouche State Park

Tettegouche State Park, located about 15 miles east of Jordan, lies along the coastline of Lake Superior and boasts a wide variety of camp site types. There are 28 drive-in sites, each just a mile-and-a-half from Lake Superior itself, plus a handful of backpacker camping sites that dot the park's Superior Hiking Trail. These latter sites are first come, first serve, and campers may use them for only one night before moving on. The park also features two large group sites, with water, vault toilets, cleared camping spaces, picnic tables, fire rings and bear-proof lockers. Entrance to the state park is free, though the use of some camp sites involves the payment of a small fee. Once settled in to your campground, the Tettegouche State Park offers miles of trails for hiking.snowshoeing, ATVs, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Wildhurst Lodge and Campgrounds

Located 10 miles from Jordan in nearby Finland is the Wildhurst Lodge and Campgrounds, offering visitors both RV and tent camp sites. Bathroom facilities, including showers, are maintained on-site. The Wildhurst Lodge and Campgrounds offers registration and licensing services, including big game registration and fishing and hunting licenses. Light food is available on the premises--pizza, sandwiches, soda and beer--and the campgrounds includes a small convenience store. Staff are happy to assist campers in arranging day-trips to area attractions, including a golf course (15 miles away) and the nearby Environmental Learning Center (six miles), not to mention rock climbing, swimming, fishing and hunting excursions. Canoe rental services are additionally offered by the Wildhurst Lodge and Campgrounds, which is surrounded by numerous lakes and streams.
