Orr, Minnesota, is a small community near the state's only national park, Voyageurs. With Voyageurs National Park so close and the myriad lakes of the region, Orr presents a good base camp to explore the region. Visitors can canoe, kayak-tour, hike, fly-fish and lake fish, and, in the winter, cross-country ski or snowshoe. There are several campgrounds in the region for those who enjoy camping.

Pine Acres Resort and Campground

Pine Acres Resort and Campground offers sites to tent campers and RV travelers. Tent sites have picnic tables and fire rings. RV sites have either 30- or 50-amp electric (depending on RV needs), water, and sewer connections. All guests may use the bathrooms, showers, laundry room and guest recreation areas. There is a fish freezer where guests can store their daily catch. Pets are allowed if leashed. Hikers can go to Voyageurs National Park and enjoy a variety of trails and nature walks, including ranger-led interpretive nature walks.

Aspen Resort and Campground

Located on the banks of Pelican Lake, Aspen Resort's guests can enjoy fishing for large-mouthed bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill and perch from the campground. In addition, there are many hiking and biking trails in the area for those seeking a wilderness walk. Tent sites have picnic tables and fire rings. RV sites come with water, sewer, cable TV, and 30- or 50-amp electric hookups. Pets are allowed, and there is a dog walk area for off-leash play. There are loons that nest on Pelican Lake, and guests frequently go to sleep listening to their haunting cry. Canoeing and kayaking can be had from the campground.

Cabin O' Pines

Cabin O' Pines makes a convenient base camp for visitors going to Voyageurs National Park. There are sites for both tents and RVs. The tent sites have fire pits with grills, freshwater access for drinking and cooking water, and picnic tables. Tent campers can use the guest room, which has a small kitchen for food preparation. RV sites come with water, sewer, and 30- or 50-amp electric hookups. All guests may use the showers, bathrooms and other campground amenities. Pets are allowed. Voyageurs National Park is within 45 minutes, and visitors can enjoy hiking, bird watching and wildlife observation in the park and surrounding region.
