RV Campgrounds Near Washington, DC
Everyone knows that Washington, DC, is rich in tourist attractions, museums and national monuments, but you may not realize that the city also has many outdoor activities for visitors to participate in. This pedestrian-friendly city offers opportunities for running, walking and biking. In fact, walking and biking tours are available to explore famous sites such as Capitol Hill and the Washington Monument and to experience the scenic views of this historic city. Several RV campgrounds are available near the city.

Cherry Hill Park

Cherry Hill Park is approximately 10 miles outside of Washington, DC. This park has 400 campsites for tents and RVs with water, sewer and electrical hookups. Other amenities include restrooms, showers, a laundry room, a propane fill station, two outdoor swimming pools, a hot tub, a miniature golf course, an arcade, a playground, wireless Internet, and a lounge with cable television. An on-site cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lake Fairfax Park Campground

The Lake Fairfax Park Campground, which is located approximately 30 minutes from Washington DC, has 136 campsites, including 54 sites with electrical hookups . Each site includes a picnic table, a fire ring and a charcoal grill. Campground amenities include restrooms and showers, drinking water spigots and an RV dump station. Pets are permitted at the campground but they must be leashed, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Aggressive animals will not be allowed inside the park. Activities within the park include fishing and boating on an 18 acre lake and nearby trout stream. The Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole is also located inside Lake Fairfax Park and offers water slides and a western themed activity pool.

Pohick Bay Regional Park

Pohick Bay Regional Park is located on the Potomac River, 25 miles south of Washington, DC. Campsites vary from rustic sites with no hookups to electric only and full hookup sites with water, electricity and sewage hookups. Campers receive access to restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a dump station and a camp store. The park is also home to the Pirates Cove Waterpark, an 18-hole golf course, cabin rentals, a miniature golf course, a disc golf course and over four miles of hiking trails. Canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, jon boats and sailboats can be rented from the park by the hour or by the day for use on the Potomac River.
