RV Parks Near Louisville, Kentucky
With more than a dozen major hiking trails, as well as access to the tributaries of the Ohio River and Taylorsville Lake, the Louisville, Kentucky, area has much to offer to RV campers who love the outdoors. There is plenty of mountain biking, canoeing, fishing and hiking, but also other attractions such as the Muhammad Ali Center and Fort Knox. Louisville and the surrounding area are serviced by several private and public RV parks.

Rolling Hills Camping Resort

Rolling Hills Camping Resort is less than 15 miles from the Gene Snyder Freeway, and only a few miles from Taylorsville Lake State Park. The resort has 63 sites that can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long with double slide-outs. Eight sites have full hookups, while the remainder have only water and electrical (either 30 or 50 amp). Primitive and full-service rental cabins are also available. The features and facilities of Rolling Hills include a catch-and-release private fishing pond, miniature golf, picnic tables, playground, swimming pool, shower house and coin laundry.

Louisville Metro KOA

One of two Louisville-area KOAs, this campground is located across the river in Indiana. Despite the Indiana address, it is the closest of the two KOAs to the Louisville's center and is only a 10-minute drive to downtown. Like all KOAs, the campground has RV sites, tent sites and rental cabins. The RV sites include full hookups with 50-amp electricity. Cable TV and telephone are also available, and the longest sites are 69 feet long. The Louisville Metro KOA also offers a camp kitchen, snack bar, miniature golf course, outdoor swimming pool, and free Wi-Fi.

Expo Five Dome

This RV park is inside the Louisville city limits, making it the most convenient location for RV campers who prioritize the city over its surrounding outdoor attractions. In terms of amenities, the park is rather spartan. It has water and 20-amp electrical hookups, a dumping station, a bathhouse and 24-hour security.

Louisville South KOA

The second of Louisville's KOAs is situated south of the city in Shepherdsville, near Fort Knox. While the Louisville South facility is farther from the city itself, it offers more amenities. RV sites have full hookups (up to 50-amp electricity), with the largest sites 90 feet long. The campground also has other accommodations in the form of tent camping and one- or two-bedroom rental cabins. This KOA also has activities such as outdoor cinema screenings. The campground's other features and facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, private fishing pond, sauna, hot tub, playground, miniature golf, free Wi-Fi access, camp store, firewood and LP gas sales and a business center.

Taylorsville Lake State Park

Consisting of a 3,050-acre lake and 1,200 acres of surrounding parkland, Taylorsville Lake State Park offers RV campers 42 sites with full hookups. The campground is serviced by a central building with a coin laundry and showers. Among the amenities are 16 miles of trails for hikers, bikers and horseback riders, as well as a marina and boat ramp. The lake itself is open to fishing and boating.
