RV Parks in Danbury, CT

RV Parks in Danbury, CT
Danbury, Connecticut, a bustling commuting suburb of New York City, has plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment for travelers of all varieties. While you think it might be difficult to escape the suburban sprawl that defines Danbury, there are places to park your RV, relax in the shade and even find solitude in wooded, private spaces seemingly far from the interstates and mini malls.

Sylvan Lake Beach Park

Located just a short drive from downtown Danbury, Sylvan Lake Beach Park offers tent campers and RVers pleasant, peaceful accommodations. This site is part of the Dutchess County Campground system. RV amenities include full hookups and dumping stations. The site also includes volleyball and basketball courts, as well as large fields for capture-the-flag games. If the park isn't enough to sate your outdoor passion, take the Hudson Valley Wine Trail and sample some of the local wine.

The Newburgh KOA (Kampgrounds of America, a national chain of campgrounds and RV parks) is located in Plattekill, just outside Danbury. This site offers the full package of KOA amenities, including: RV sites, tent sites, KOA Kabins for rent and the KOA Kamping Lodge. RVers will find their sites paved and large, with hookups for electric, sewer and water. Campers can make a day trip to New York City or, if you prefer, stay on the 65 acres of greenery and get lost in the natural wonder of the Hudson River Valley.

Gentile's Campground

Gentile's Campground is a bare-bones facility catering to those in transit--short-term stays are encouraged. The site has a few RV sites, but hookups and amenities are sparse. There are tent sites available, too. RV campers should leave the park each day to explore Black Rock State Park or the Mattatuck State Forest, both of which are within a 5-mile drive.
