Phoenix, Ariz., is a popular desert destination. Visitors to the west side of the city can ride the mountain bike trails at South Mountain or Camelback Mountain. There are trails for runners and hikers, such as South Mountain's National Trail and Mormon Trail. The Agua Fria National Monument and Tonto National Forest outside the city offer rock-climbing, bouldering, mountain biking and hiking.

The Black Canyon City KOA is near the Agua Fria National Monument, where guests can hike and explore the desert environment. Pets are welcome but should remain on leashes and are not to be left unattended or in parked cars while the owners are away. The Paradise RV Resort is on the west side of Phoenix. RVs of most sizes can be accommodated. Hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, cable TV, Wi-Fi, sewer and water. There is a swimming pool, guest clubhouse, fitness facility, spa, private bathrooms, showers, picnic grounds and playground for guest use. Pets are allowed. The Encanto Park and Recreation Area, with hiking and trail running, is nearby.

Sunflower RV Resort

The Sunflower RV Resort, on Phoenix's west side, is an age-55 and older park. The resort caters to long-term visitors, offering monthly and seasonal rates. RVs of all sizes can be accommodated. The resort offers shuffleboard, bocce, swimming pool, hot tubs, 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water hookups, sewer connections and Wi-Fi. Pets are allowed and there is a dog-walk area for off-leash play. There are organized activities each week at the Sunflower, including golf outings, organized hikes and walks, bird-watching trips, bingo and game nights.
