Bodie Island Lighthouse

Located at the northernmost tip of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the Bodie Island Lighthouse is a 156-foot tall structure that was built in 1872. Although the lighthouse is not open to climbers, the visitors' center features exhibits and a bookstore. Visitors can take a self-guided tour through the marshes surrounding the lighthouse. The lighthouse, with its black and white bands, has an interesting history that is revealed at the Keeper's Quarters in the visitors center.
