Located in central Arizona, Prescott is northwest of Phoenix and is right next to the Prescott National Forest. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are plenty of opportunities available for hiking, backpacking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities in the Prescott area.

Point of Rocks RV Campground

The Point of Rocks RV Campground, which sits in between Watson Lake and Willow Creek Reservoir, is located north of Prescott. The campground has 96 sites with full hookup services and level space for parking vehicles and campers. There are also laundry facilities and restrooms located on the property.

Watson Lake Park

A local park that is operated by the city of Prescott and next to Point of Rocks RV Campground, Watson Lake Park has seasonal camping during the summer months only. Fishing is permitted in the lake, and there is a boat dock available. There are also restroom facilities, showers for campers, picnic areas, a fish-cleaning station, boat launches, playground equipment, horseshoe pits and barbecue grills.

Orchard Ranch RV Resort

The Orchard Ranch RV Resort is intended for those 55 years and older. East of Prescott, the resort has 250 RV sites with full hookups that are pull-through spaces. Other amenities include a beauty salon, a library and TV room, horseshoe pit, a swimming pool, spa, an exercise room and a putting green. Fax and photocopy services are available.

Alto Pit Campground

Operated by the Bradshaw District of the Prescott National Forest, the Alto Pit Campground has 10 campsites that have picnic tables, barbecue grills and campfire rings. These sites can each accommodate up to 10 people and two vehicles. There is also an additional campsite that can fit up to 20 people and four vehicles. Other amenities available include trash collection and vault pit toilets, as well as access to hiking trails. Water, showers, and vehicle hookups are not available.

Groom Creek Horse Campground

Another Prescott National Forest campground, Groom Creek is specifically designed for campers who have horses. For overnight camping, there are 36 campsites that have fire rings, picnic tables, stand-up grills, and horse tethers. There are also 30 corrals and vault pit toilets. Dump stations, showers and electricity are not available. Groom Creek Campground is open seasonally between May and October.
