Wilmington, North Carolina is a port town near the coast, on the Cape Fear River. There are many interesting things to see in the area such the U.S.S. North Carolina battleship and other retired military vessels, the nearby coastal waters and Inter-coastal waterway, shops and historical homes such as the Bellamy Mansion. There are full-hookup RV parks in the area.

Winner's RV Park is in Carolina Beach, on the coast of North Carolina just south of Wilmington. Nearby you will find the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, fishing piers, charter boat rental and a museum. On-site you will find boat and RV storage. Sites include full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electrical connections. This is a pet-friendly campground.

Topsail Sound RV Park, outside of Wilmington on Pleasure Island, is only a short drive from places like Carolina Beach and the North Carolina Aquarium in Fort Fisher, which are also located on the island. Campground amenities include bathhouses, laundry facilities and pier. Other features of the park include a recreation area with a library, games and lounge; picnic shelters and a pool. Sites include full hook ups and TV service.
