Davy Crocket Birthplace State Park

The Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park is a secluded camping area, with a touch of history to make it even more interesting. There is a log cabin from the time period of Crocket, and it could be the one he was born in. The original foot stone for the cabin remains. The cabin sits a few feet from the Nolichucky River, and most of the campsites are close to the river as well. There are plaques and signs with information about Crocket, and there is a visitor's center with more information.
There are lots of trails around the area. It is very quiet and seems far from civilization. In season, wildflowers abound, and in the fall the colorful trees are beautiful. Even so, Greeneville is just 12 miles away. There are 88 spaces with water and electricity available, and 40 of those have sewer connections for RV campers. There are also tent sites available. The campground has a swimming pool and a large pavilion for groups that can be reserved. There area also picnic areas for day users. The site does not take reservations, and provides sites on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pebble Mountain Family Campground

The Pebble Mountain Family Campground is 15 miles to the south of Greeneville, nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The campground got its name in the 70's when the original owner made a reference to a lot of pebbles in a nearby creek bank. There is no pebble mountain, but there is a creek. The place is far off the beaten path and their motto is "a peaceful coexistence with nature." There is a pool, a playground, and a pavilion with a fireplace. Spring and fall are the most beautiful seasons here, but in winter the nearby mountains are covered with snow. There are full hookups for RVs and campers. There are also several primitive tent camping sites.
