Those RV campers passing through the Sparta, Tennessee area will find numerous RV parks where they can leave their vehicles. Sitting on the plateau that rests between Nashville and Knoxville, this area of the state is heavily forested and makes for an ideal place to escape the confines of city living.

Ragland Bottom Campground

Park your RV just west of the town limits at Ragland Bottom Campground. Sixty sites are offered with 50 amp electric, water and sewer hook-ups. Some sites can accommodate big rigs and pull-through RVs.

The campground offers bathrooms with flush toilets and showers, swimming and a boat launch on Center Hill Lake, which borders the campground. There's also a playground, fire rings and a dump station. Pets are welcome. Reservations are recommended and should be made two days in advance. Visitors will find there is also an interpretive trail to explore.

Mountain Glen RV Park

Drive 25 miles south of Sparta to reach Mountain Glen RV Park. Its 42 pull-through sites are available with 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water and sewer hook-ups. The park offers private bathrooms and showers, laundry facilities, public telephones, a dump station, playground, game room with air hockey table and horseshoe pit, fire pits and picnic tables.

The park sits next to a small pond where catch-and-release fishing is encouraged. This is the closest site to Fall Creek State Park, where trails leading through dense forests, waterfalls and high gorges can be explored.

Beanpot Holiday Trav-L-Park

Park the RV 30 miles east of Sparta at the Beanpot Holiday Trav-L-Park. Sixty-one sites are available with 30- and 50-amp electric, water and sewer hook-ups. Fifty of the sites are designed for pull-through RVs.

The park offers a propane and dump station, bathrooms and showers, volleyball, basketball, horseshoe pits, a trail for pets, an outdoor swimming pool and playground as well as a clubhouse and gift shop.

A short park trail gives travelers a place to stretch their legs among the trees. Nearby Cumberland Mountain State Park is the best place in the area for a long hike and to catch a performance at Crossville's Cumberland County Playhouse.
