Campgrounds Near Rifle River in Michigan
The Rifle River is a watershed river that winds throughout the scenic Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is a popular destination for fishing, camping, hiking and kayaking. The river empties into Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron. Numerous campgrounds sit on this more than 60-mile river and are accessible to RV campers, hikers and visitors who want to experience the region in the way it originally was explored: by canoe.

Riverview Campground

This campground occupies more than a mile of the riverfront on the Rifle and offers 120 wooded acres that edge on state forest lands and provide access to numerous hiking and biking trails. Seasonal rentals are available for those who want to spend the summer on the Rifle, and camp sites vary from fully-appointed RV sites to camping cabins to rustic tent sites. New bathroom facilities were opened in 2009, and there are three bathroom and shower houses on the grounds, as well as laundry facilities. High speed Internet access, a party store, playgrounds, a recreation center and canoe and kayak rentals are all available on-site.

Big Bend Family Campgrounds

This large campground offers more than 100 camping sites on the river, just 2 miles from the shores of Lake Huron. Enjoy hiking trails and a swimming lake on-site, as well as camping with full hookups or with basic amenities. The campground offers a community center, sports, fishing, large camp store, spacious modern bathrooms, laundry facilities and wagon rides on Saturdays. Canoe, kayak and tube rentals are also available, and golf, shopping and restaurants are all nearby.

Rippling Waters Campground

This campground is located on a quiet bend of the Rifle River and offers extensive kayak, canoe and tube tours, including rentals and transportation via bus to the more exciting stretches of water. More than 100 sites are available, all quite close to the river itself and many directly beside it. On-site activities include hiking trails, horseshoes and a playground. Sundries are available at the on-site store and modern restroom facilities ensure your comfort while camping. The location offers seasonal camping and is located close enough to Saginaw Bay to be convenient to marinas and boating.
